Digital Engagement #8

Transcript: Before you begin the process of filming a video, it is important first to create an outline or script so you know what to say when the camera starts recording. Plan where, when, and how you want to film your project. Make sure to film well before the deadline so you have time to edit. When filming, some important things to remember are to film in a controlled quiet environment, record with a high-quality mic close to the subject, and test and play back your recording before you film. To make sure you have enough footage for the editing process, record more footage than you think you need. Once you have the video filmed, you can start the editing process. While editing, use descriptive labels of files, use keyboard shortcuts, keep the audio level consistent, and balance your audio properly. Don’t forget to keep your video accessible for all watchers by including closed captions, keeping the subject closely seen, making sure all graphics and text are visible, and including content warnings when necessary.
